Dear Readers,
Whew! I finally made it back to the blog! while I am currently at home (with a cough and cold, given to me by Portland), I did in fact take pictures of everyone's gifts (except my mom's, because the pic I DID take was to blurry.) This post will be about gifts, and the next post will be about what I'm working on currently.

Becca's Shire sweater was finished the morning of Christmas day. I was literally Binding off as other people opened their presents. I didn't even wrap the thing. I just handed it to her. and as you can see, she couldn't be more happy. Becca's the most photogenic of all of us, and so she was the best one to take pics of. I have more. You may also remember back in July that I knitted Becca's knee-high socks, which she also posed in for me.
Mary and Dad both loved their socks, and I'm sure my Godmother will love hers. (Mary had to unwrap the present and stuff the socks into her bag because she buys the cheapest tickets available, which means she doesn't get luggage, and basically depends on us to provide clothes. I'm not complaining, it just seems to inconvenient a way to do things. But hey, to each her own.)
Teresa also loved her gloves, even though she already knew what they were. No one seemed to care that the surprise was ruined from the moment I cast on the gloves to the moment she opened them. In fact, it was crazy how much everyone was trying to match all of Teresa's OTHER gifts with mine! Next time, I'll be sure to mail the family a swatch.
2 unfortunate things happened, however, despite my efforts.
1) Peter's socks didn't fit. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he does NOT have 11" wide feet, but rather 9.5" wide feet. And I was so sad that I ripped the socks back on the 26th, and I'll be knitting up new ones ASAP.
2) I didn't finish my brother Stephen's socks. I'm just going to send the ones I made him a while ago, some dark-blue ones with Boise State Colors. After Peter's socks going so awry, I didn't want to make any more mistakes. Sorry Stephen. Next year I'll do better, I promise.
However, this Christmas proved to be quiet and relaxing for all of us. Caroling went over well, Wagilia was bigger but no less fun or relaxing, and Christmas day was like taking a breath of freash air. And it's still Christmas. (we celebrate it from the 25th-Jan. 6th. Why all that work and only one day of pay-off???) I'm still in Christmas mode, even though it's past New Years.
Merry Christmas!
