Dear Readers,
I've finished Christmas knitting, so now it's time. Something new to do! First off is Mary's Anna Mittens. You know, Anna? From Frozen? yeah, those mittens.

I'm putting the design on last, courtesy of white yarn and the duplicate stitch. And then I'll mail these puppies to my sister (probably in the cheapest way possible, without even wrapping it). I cast these on as soon as I got home, because I realized one very crucial thing before I got home: I had nothing to knit with. Seriously. I left the needles for this pattern at home, but not the yarn. I didn't have the needles for Peter's socks so I could finish them, but I had. the. yarn. So basically, I tried not to think about how I didn't have any knitting to do as I watched TV, roamed Powells bookstore with my family, and read all my knitting blogs and forced next-year's Advent angel (and Advent Angel of 2017) to look on Ravelry for a decent pattern that they wanted, and watched my sister as she knit the legwarmers I helped her start.
. . .
It was hard. But not so hard that I started knitting with pencils. (Mostly because I didn't think of that until just now).

See that little paper in there? Yeah, that's Peter's ACTUAL foot measurements. After I told him SPECIFICALLY where to measure on the phone, he didn't get it right. Now, I love my brother dearly, and I suppose unless you knit socks or are a podiatrist you wouldn't know that the ball of your foot is that bump just below your toes....
Finally, these are the socks Stephen is getting. Now I need to ship them to Rome. Hopefully they get there before July.... and yes, I am aware of the fact that these won't fit his feet. I thought I'd better send him something than nothing. I'll also send a card with an apology.....
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
